| Since the death of Jean-Marie
Vianney, who was parish priest of Ars until 1859, the
mission of the Sanctuary of Ars has been to welcome
pilgrims and disperse knowledge of the Holy Priest,
patron saint of all the parish priests in the world.
The Sanctuary Centre is open all
year round. The Priests, Benedictine Sisters of the
Sacré-Cœur of Montmartre, and all the Sanctuary
team welcome individual visitors, families and groups.
The Sanctuary Centre can also help you to prepare, plan
and organise your pilgrimage, or book a Mass.
Access is always allowed
to the Basilica and church of the Holy Priest (arrange
in advance for services), as is the house of the Parish
Priest of Ars and the chapel that houses the heart of
The Holy Priest.
The Sanctuary has a new Visitors' Centre, places for
silence and prayer, a pilgrim's hostel, meeting rooms,
audio-visual material, and an underground church (1,500
seats) for major celebrations. Accessible for the handicapped.
There are also guest houses for those in holy orders
(please contact us).
