The abbey

Together with Mount Gargan in southern Italy, the Mont dedicated to Saint-Michel in 708, was one of the main locations of worship of Saint Michael the Archangel. The abbey provides a complete overview of medieval architecture: from the XIth century to the XVIth century.

 

Open every day except 1st January, 1st May, 25th December.
From 2nd May to 31st August from 9.00 am to 19.00 pm, last entry 18.00 pm.
From 1st September to 30th April, from 9.30 am to 18.00 pm, last entry 17.00 pm.

   

Charges:
Individuals + 25 years: 8,50 euro; 18 to 25: 5 euro; -18: free.
Groups: 6,50 euro

The museums

Historical museum: antique collections (weapons, paintings, sculptures, watches). Prisons, dungeons, reconstruction of prisons and dungeons, XIXth century periscope which has a view of the Bay.


The archéoscope: a multi-media spectacle which presents the history of the Mont and its construction

Maritime museum: audio video system which explains the phenomenon of the tides, the problems of silting of the site and exhibits the next works which will take place.

 

The Logis Tiphaine (Tiphaine home), residence of Bertrand Duguesclin: XIVth century house; recalling the life of the Constable and of his spouse Tiphaine de Raguenel. (furniture, paintings, tapestries).

Opening of the maritime museum from the beginning of february holiday to the end of the Christmas holiday.
Opening of the other museums every day from the beginning of february holiday to 11th November and during the Christmas holiday.

The parish church dedicated to Saint-Pierre from the XV and XVIth century.
Mass is celebrated there, every day at 11h00 (only on Thursday and Sunday from the 1st of December till Easter holiday). On Saturday mass at 06.00 pm.

The Maison du Pèlerin (Pilgrim's house), formerly the presbytery, house of welcome, meeting and listening.

Accommodation and restaurants:
15 hotels - restaurants ranging from non-classified to four star: (8 on the site inside the walls and 7 at the entrance to the sea wall) with a total capacity of 514 rooms plus traditional restaurants and fast-food restaurants.

Numerous souvenir shops are available in the village

parking fee: 4 € per vehicle for 24 hours, 8 € for camper vans and 1€ for motorcycles.
Free access for coaches.
