Born in Lourdes in 1844, Bernadette Soubirous was 14 when the Virgin Mary appeared to her at Massabielle Rock.
In 1866, in order to fulfill her desire for a religious life, Bernadette arrived in Saint-Gildard, Mother House of the Sisters of Charity of Nevers whom she had known in the Lourdes Hospice where she had learned to read and write.
Bernadette stayed there for 13 years. Her simple and ordinary life was completely given to God and others. On her death in 1879, her body was entombed in a chapel in the garden. Found intact, it has rested since 1925 in a shrine in the chapel. Thousands of visitors from all nations come to be close to Bernadette… she never stops saying:
"God is our Father, he has an infinite love for us..."

The Bernadette Soubirous-Nevers Centre (EBSN) puts at your disposal meeting rooms including one with 120 places with simultaneous translation booths and audiovisual equipment, a reception area with international cable channels, places of silence and prayer.
The House has potential accommodation for 200, reserved for pilgrims and those on retreat, and dining rooms. A gite for young people can hold 30. (For rates, please consult us). Access for disabled persons.
